Is your pup bothered by trick-or-treaters as much as I am?

So, everyone knows that us pups really just don't like the mailman, he 's a stranger that comes up to our house every single day. Nothing against those who deliver mail, we just like to protect our homes. Well, the same goes for most pups and trick-or-treaters. While it's loads of fun for the kids, trick-or-treat can be super stressful for us pups. There are tons of people coming to our house and walking by and we don't know hardly any of them. Plus, if you factor in the doorbell ringing, most of us just become huge stress balls! There is a safe alternative where we can relax, though, yep, you guessed it, All Wags. We do still have room for boarders tomorrow night if your pup would like to come and spend Halloween night with us! Happy Halloween everyone!

All Wags's own tripod- Meet Promise!

All Wags has a very special new pup with a very awesome story. Promise is being fostered and her foster family brings her to come and play at All Wags until she finds her forever home. Promise is a sweet little girl with only three legs, but you would have to give her a second look because this girl can run and jump with the best of them!
Miss Promise's life is fabulous now, but it definitely didn't start out that way. She was found and had been hit by a car. Her back leg was hurt very badly and the shelter that she had been taken to was going to just put her down. Well, a really nice lady from the Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue came along and took her and made sure that she got the surgery that she needed to amputate her leg. She's all recovered from her surgery and ready for the next phase of her life... her forever home! To keep up with Promise's story, check her out at the Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue webpage. Just scroll down until you see her sweet face. Be sure to check out all of the other awesome stories on their webpage!

Join the All Wags team for the 2010 Dogswalk Against Cancer

The 2010 Dogswalk Against Cancer is on Saturday, April 3, 2o10, beginning and ending at the Canine Cafe. We are starting our team-building and fundraising early. We hope that you will join us or be able to make a donation to our team. I didn't get to go last year, but my friends, Ella & Cullie, did along with their mamas and also our friends, Ashley and Callie. I hope that I will get to go this year. From what I hear, it's a fun time for humans and pups alike. There are lots of treats for everybody and the money raised goes to some pretty great causes, the American Cancer Society and Murray's Fund at Carolina Veterinary Specialists. People and pups both get helped! Follow this link to join our team: 2010 Dogswalk Against Cancer - Charlotte, NC:

It's a Wedding!

Guess what everybody? Today my people brother, Ryan, married All Wags' very own Brooks! I didn't get to go, but I hear that it was all very beautiful and fun. They got married down in Charleston, South Carolina by the beach. I was wondering where all of my people were, but when I found out what they had been doing, I was so excited and happy. I love to see my family grow and I am so happy that Brooks is now a part of it! So many All Wags people were there! Here's who: My other people brothers, Josh & Tyler; my mama, Karen; my people sister, Madison and my friend, Ali. Brooks will be gone for the next week on her honeymoon in Florida, but I'm sure that she will miss all of us. My mama wanted to be sure and thank all of the other All Wags people who worked hard over the weekend to keep All Wags running awesomely!

Sometimes a pup just needs to take a rest

So, I bet you puppy moms and dads wonder what all your pups do all day. Do they run constantly or are they ever taking a break? Is my pup getting too much activity? (Some of you may not even believe that is possible.) Well, my pals Mandy and Ella are here to show you all that, yes, when pups are tired they do take a break. We're pretty smart little beings and do rest when we need to, the amount of rest needed just varies from pup to pup. Right in front of them, what you can't see, is that other pups are running around and playing, but these two sisters decided that it was time to take a nap and they are thoroughly enjoying the beds that are available in our play areas. By the way, my friend Mandy got the nickname "Peanut" from her mom and dad when they first adopted her because of laying like this. They think that when she curls up she is the shape of a peanut! She seems to have taught her adopted sister Ella the technique too!

How big is a puppy?

I'm sure that most of you think of puppies as being small, little guys. Well, not always... This is my friend, Simba, and while Simba was small the first time coming to All Wags, not anymore! And, believe it or not, Simba isn't even 1 year old yet! That's right, Simba is a puppy! Simba is a really cool breed of dog called a Rhodesian Ridgeback, and they have, you guessed it, a "ridge" going down their "back." Now you see where the name comes from! Simba loves playing fetch with the ball and usually wins. The other pups don't stand a chance when it comes to Simba's awesome height. No jumping even needed to catch the ball. Don't you just love big puppies?!

All Wags is super clean and like new

So, my schedule today was a little bit different than most normal Sundays. Me, my mom, dad, Bailey & Madison all got up early and went to All Wags. Well, when we got there all of the people who work at All Wags were there. I was confused until they all got to work. It was a mega cleaning day, I mean all hands on deck! My people brother, Tyler, even came back from college to help. The people put in some good hours and a lot of elbow grease. Ok, it wasn't all elbow grease, there was a pressure washer involved. The place looks great and us pups had so much fun playing in our squeaky clean play-space. Thanks for caring so much about us all and thanks to my people friends who work at All Wags for coming out and helping on their Sunday morning!

Playground Equipment- Not Just for Kids

So, many of you may look at our back play area and wonder, "Hmmm, I wonder if any of the pups ever play on the playground equipment and if they do, what does it look like." Well, here for your viewing pleasure are some adorable photos of us pups playing. We can't help ourselves, if you come and peek through the fence we are just going to run over and bark at you. Sorry, we can't help it... It must be the same gene that makes us bark at the mailman. Here is your chance to see us in action. We absolutely LOVE to play on the playground equipment. We run up the stairs and slide down the slides and sometimes we run up the slides and slide down the stairs, but that doesn't always work out quite as well. I think our favorite thing to do on the playground equipment is what I like to call King and/or Queen of All Wags. This is where one of us gets up high and just looks out over everyone else, kind of like we rule the place. That is what my friend, Coyote, is playing. You can also see that Stella and Vinnie are having a blast playing hide and seek. No matter what, we always have fun at All Wags!

Snugglers Wanted

So, most of you probably know that most of us pups just can't get enough snuggling. We will snuggle with just about any person or other pup that will snuggle with us and some of us even snuggle with kitties. Here's me and my pal, Macy Lou. The great thing about coming to All Wags is that it's not always just about playing. Us pups are social animals and just hanging around and laying and snuggling makes us just as happy as playing and running. We just love being around our friends, no matter what we are doing!

Dogs Rule Day

Happy Dogs Rule Day! I certainly couldn't agree more and the people actually kind of think that every day should be dogs rule day! It certainly is here at All Wags! Pedigree (a yummy food) has declared October 10th Dogs Rule Day, and their idea is that this should just be a day that is all about your dog and loving them. The pups at All Wags certainly got lots of love today. And, how about we had every kind of weather?! Cool breezes, rain, sun, etc. Enough differences to make everyone happy on Dogs Rule Day. If you want some ideas about how to celebrate with your best friend check out the website devoted to the day. And, hey, we are OK if you celebrate tomorrow and the next day and the next day...

Goodbye to our good friend, Peanut

It's been a pretty sad couple of weeks at All Wags. One of our good friends, Peanut, recently passed away. He was a rescued lab who always had problems with his knees. Well, his mom and dad discovered that he had a tumor on his spine after many tests, and this is what eventually sent him to Doggie Heaven at only 8 years old. He always enjoyed his time at All Wags and his mom and dad say they were some of his happiest and we are so happy and proud to have been a part of them. We will all miss our dear friend, Peanut, so much. Give your pups some extra snuggles tonight. Unfortunately, we never know when scary things like tumors will happen to any of us, so we have to just love each other every day. I also want to say good-bye to some of our All Wags employee dogs who also passed away this September. Good-bye and lots of love to Brinnley, Bear, Tanner and their families. We'll see you all at the Rainbow Bridge.

Dr. Keri Hawkes Switches Vet Practices

I wanted to make sure that you all know that my super awesome vet (and many of yours), Dr. Keri Hawkes, is officially at a different vet practice. She is now going to be at Southpark Animal Hospital on Park Road. Here are the dates that she will be there through the end of the year:

October 29 and 30

November 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,10, 11,17,18, 21, 23, 24, 25

December 4, 5, 8, 9,15,16,19, 21, 22, 23, 29, 30

She is the only vet that Bailey and I have ever been to and I know that she is the only vet that my friends, Mandy & Ella have ever been to, and I'm sure many of you other pups too. Here's how awesome she is, in case you don't already know. When my friend, Mandy, first went to live with her family after being adopted from Animal Control she was so scared to go to the vet that she would just cower and didn't even want to go in. At first she had to be given a special pill just to calm her down enough to go into the vet. Well, Dr. Hawkes was so patient with her and showed her so much love that now, she goes into the vet's office with her tail wagging because she knows they are going to take good care of her. She even told me that her mom took her to the Southpark Animal Hospital just to visit and say "Hi" to Dr. Hawkes and she said that she wasn't even afraid then, even though she had never smelled it in there before.

If you want to make an appointment with her, all you have to do is call Southpark Animal Hospital at 704-523-3457 and tell them that you want to see Dr. Hawkes. Also, Southpark Animal Hospital is going to be the new emergency vet for All Wags. Now, while we hope to never have to use an emergency vet, we just wanted to make sure that all of the puppy moms and dads knew.

Chow Time

If you've never seen the sight of the pups waiting to go in the Mutt Hut to get food, then you are going to love this photo. We all know that us pups love food, and the line-up at the door of the Mutt Hut really shows that. It usually starts when one of us realizes that one of the people has gone in there and then we start hearing the sound of food going into metal bowls. Well, that sound gets us running. Even those of us that aren't eating get so psyched. Then we all just stand there staring in anticipation. Then, when they open the doors we go running in, and, then... Yeah! Chow Time!
