We are Thankful for the Whole All Wags Family

What are you thankful for? One of the most important things we are thankful for here at All Wags is all of you! Not only is All Wags the best "doghouse" in town, but we also know that we have the best customers on town! Our pups and their people are top-notch and we couldn't be happier with all of the fabulous and wonderful people and pups who are part of the All Wags family.
Need an example of what makes you all so awesome and incredible? Tulie is one of our pups who comes to All Wags 3 days a week who is a huge sweetheart. Check out this fabulous bread shaped like a turkey that his mom and dad brought to us for Thanksgiving. Isn't that just adorable and so sweet of them? Thanks to Tulie's family for making us feel so special on Thanksgiving!

Preview of Charlotte Dogs

Have you gone out and gotten your copy of Charlotte Dogs yet from Park Road Books? If not, here is a little preview of the essay about Maddie Sue who was an All Wags pup who passed away in 2008. She missed her time in the spotlight as a famous "Charlotte Dog," but her best friend Mandy was happy to go to the publication party in her place and enjoy all of the love and attention and we know that Maddie is looking down so happy that such an amazing book has been published that showcases all of the awesome dogs who live in Charlotte!
There is an amazing little being that lives in my home. She is smart and loving, loyal and attentive, and she is the best little snuggle buddy that I have ever met. Her name is Maddie. She has four legs, a tail, and a snout. Her body is covered with black fur, with just a few white patches and she loves to be pet on those white patches. Maddie is the fabulous little dog that almost wasn’t. When Maddie was 2 months old, she was found tied to a tree outside of an animal shelter, she was very thin and had mange so she had hardly any fur. The prognosis didn’t look good, but Maddie was put into foster care and with love and attention, things started to turn around. Soon, Maddie was ready to be adopted and was brought back to the shelter. A family came and adopted Maddie when she hadn’t been there very long and I can just imagine her excitement to be leaving the shelter, however, what she didn’t know is that she would be coming back very soon. She was returned by that family. She needed a lot of attention given her troublesome beginnings and they just didn’t have time for her. Maddie was given a few labels then “doesn’t get along with children,” “may need behavior therapy,” “training recommended.” Well, it’s already tough enough to get adopted in a shelter without the labels. She got a lot of looks, though, because at four months old, she was a perfect looking little puppy, but she didn’t get a lot of second looks after her labels were read. My husband I then happened to go to that shelter one night after work and when we saw her, we gave her a second look and a third and a fourth. We had found our new family member. The volunteers at the shelter reminded us of her labels and also informed us of another: this shelter was full and we were her last chance. We were happy to take her to our home. Yes, we had rocky beginnings with Miss Maddie, and we got her training, lots of training and she also saw an animal behaviorist, but what Maddie needed the most was a loving home. We took a chance with Maddie and it was the greatest chance that I have ever taken. She is truly the best friend that I could ever have imagined and I’m as happy to be her best friend as she is to be mine. This special little dog with the rough beginning has touched my heart deeply and continues to everyday. I love waking up to her kisses every morning and feeling her snuggle up against me as I sleep. I love throwing one of her many squeaky, yellow, tennis balls and having her bring it back to me. I adore watching how she licks a Frosty Paw treat. Maddie has a few new labels these day “fan favorite,” “little baby girl,” and most importantly “my best friend.”

Charlotte Dogs Publication Party

We all know and agree that Charlotte Dogs are especially special and now there is a book to showcase them and prove it! Charlotte Dogs is a book of essays and photos that were contributed by pups and their owners and compiled together. Maddie, an All Wags pup who went to the Rainbow Bridge in 2008, is one of those pups who is featured in the book. Park Road Books is having a publication party for the release of the book this Saturday, November 20th at 10:30am and you and your pups are invited to come out and celebrate. The editor and many of the featured dogs will be in attendance and you will also be able to purchase a copy of the book. Let's celebrate Charlotte Dogs!

Some doggie humor for your midweek delight...

Anyone who has a pup who likes to eat random things can get a good laugh at this one... Especially if you need a laugh after paying a vet bill because of that swallowing... I'm sure all dog owners can relate, though! We love them and they are worth every penny! What is the strangest thing your pup has ever swallowed? Do you have any hilarious stories? Hopefully, no one can compare to poor Randy here in this cartoon!

National Shelter Appreciation Week

In celebration of National Shelter Appreciation Week, November 7-13, The Humane Society of Charlotte is waiving the adoption fees on thirteen of its most special residents.  Four dogs have found their forever homes so far this week.  Four more dogs and five cats have been at the shelter far too long, and are in need of loving homes.  Please come and visit them.

Staff at the shelter will be on hand to provide detailed information about all adoptable animals to potential adopters. In addition to the waived adoption fees, these featured cats and dogs will be spayed or neutered, tested for heartworm (canines) or Feline Leukemia (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), vaccinated, and receive 30 days of complimentary pet insurance, microchip identification and a bag of pet food. Based on a ten day stay at the shelter, these services are valued at $750.
National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week is a perfect opportunity for community members to become acquainted with their local shelter and to help homeless pets.
Even if you are not able to adopt a pet at this time, National Shelter Appreciation Week is a great time to show your support by making a donation to help the Humane Society of Charlotte.

Happy Birthday, Golly!

Golly is having quite an amazing week! First he was featured in the All Wags newsletter as one of our dogs of the month along with his brother, Willie, and then he had a birthday. I mean, right, what an amazing week. Of course, we celebrated at All Wags. Golly got to wear a fabulous birthday hat and we snapped this adorable photo. Plus, Golly's mama got a magnet of this photo to celebrate. For those puppy parents reading this who are new to All Wags and your pup hasn't celebrated a birthday with us, look forward to your pup bringing a home a magnet to you on their birthday for you to cherish.

How about some Pepsi?

On of our All Wags employees, Brandon, transformed Pepsi into Pepsi on Saturday! How adorable is that?! He had a 2 hour lunch break, an empty Pepsi box, masking tape, scissors and, of course, Pepsi the dog! Pepsi looks quite content in that Pepsi box costume too, don't you think? Quite a creative and ingenious bit of cuteness we'd say...
