Tired Pups!

A tired pup is a happy pup, so they say... So, we would say that Reece and Nellie are very happy pups! They are super tired and ready to relax at home in the evening after a full day of play at All Wags North! We love seeing photos of pups who had so much fun during the day with us! Have your own tired pup photo that you want to send? We would love to see it! Send photos to ktamerlano@gmail.com.

Rescue Chocolate

Since it's the holidays we all know that there will be lots and lots of chocolate eaten... Chocolate at parties, chocolate while decorating the tree, chocolate in stockings... Lots and lots of chocolate! And, if that chocolate is helping rescue pups, why not eat some more? Wait, you say, chocolate that can help rescue pups? Let us introduce you to Rescue Chocolate, 100% of their net profits are donated to rescue organizations around the country. And, this stuff isn't just helping a good cause, it's also delicious and mixing in some great flavors like peanut butter and bacon! Plus, it's vegan, kosher, organic and fairly traded! Is that enough good stuff for you? We can't think of a better reason to eat chocolate!

Foster Pup Giving Tree

The holiday season always puts us in the giving mood and we thought this year why not try something new and give back to pups in need. We have a Giving Tree in our lobby for the foster dogs at Three Dogs and a Rescue and Project Halo. On the front of each tag is the name of a foster dog and on the back are two gifts, one for the pup and one for the foster parent to use for caring for the pup (ex. fluffy dog bed and Lysol wipes). Just grab a tag the next time you come into All Wags and then bring the gifts back to us wrapped and with the tag attached and we will deliver them. Please help us to make these pups' Christmases very merry!

We are Accepting Donations for Three Girls and a Rescue!

You've probably noticed us posting a lot on Facebook and in our lobby about Three Girls and a Rescue... Three Girls and a Rescue is a new rescue organization and one of the "girls" brings her dogs (both her own and her fosters) to All Wags North regularly. They are doing amazing things and saving dogs' lives and we want to help them as much as we can! And, they can use your help too! They are in need of donations of food, treats, toys, etc. The bin is right in our lobby. Please help in any way that you can! Thanks in advance!

Testimonial from Molly and Gracie's puppy parents

We have another testimonial to share with you from one of our fabulous customers! Cam and Rhonda and their pups moved from Charlotte to Virginia and they still bring their puppy girls to All Wags and we love that so much! Here is what they have to say about All Wags:

Our two Lab-mix rescues: Molly (left – after a hard New Year’s Eve), and Gracie (below - during her every afternoon powernap) absolutely LOVE All Wags/North!  We’ve been Karen and Josh’s clients ever since the original location on South Boulevard! “Our girls” relish not only their daycare visits, but, “sleep-overs,” “campouts,” and more extended “Camp All Wags” experiences as well.
Whenever we have to leave them (they usually go with us everywhere), we have no reluctance knowing the genuine love, care and individual attention they’ll receive on an hour-by-hour basis.
“Gracie” is our “shy” one – scared of everyone and everything, except…us, Josh, and Karen! In no time, she’s “out of her shell”– and, within minutes, becomes the “class clown.”
We now live in Winchester, VA - but gladly make the 6 hour drive to Harrisburg whenever “the girls” need an extended place to stay.
We can’t recommend All Wags/North more highly. Quality, security, compassion, and attention for your Best Friend is the hallmark of All Wags/North. Thanks, Karen (and Josh!) for a job well-done!
It’s the only boarding or pet daycare you need to consider.

Customer Testimonial From Kim!

Here is another testimonial from one of our loyal customers. We love you all and thank you for telling us how much you love us! Do you love All Wags North too? If so you can email your testimonial to Kelly and we will get it up on the website and the blog.

I moved to Charlotte six years ago with my 1 year old puppy in tow.  I moved to Charlotte from the Midwest, so I had to rely on the internet to find a place to take my dog, Ellie before arriving in town.  I was staying in a hotel for the first week until I closed on my house, and didn’t want to leave her in a hotel room all day while I was at work.  All Wags was the doggie daycare I picked and it is by far the best thing I have found on the internet.  Ellie started out going to doggie daycare a few times a week and would board every few months for a night or two when I traveled.  She loved it so much, I eventually started taking her every day.  It became her second home.  There have actually been several times that we would walk out the front door of Wags, she would go to the bathroom in the yard outside, and then turn around to walk back toward the front door to stay at Wags, instead of getting in the car to go home.

We have recently moved to Raleigh and miss our Wags family very much.  Karen and Josh know Ellie as well as I do, as they know all the dogs.  When I travel and need to board Ellie, I drive her to All Wags North to stay with her “other” family.  She cries like a baby when she sees them and is so excited she can hardly control herself.  Karen, Josh and all the other Wags employees love dogs and it shows by how they care for the dogs.

If your dog is a huge part of your family, as Ellie is of mine, Wags is the best place to take your pup when you are at work or away from home overnight.  They are irreplaceable and will always be in my heart!

Customer Testimonial from Lee and Bea Newitt

We love our customers and we love getting testimonials from you all! Check out what Koda's mom and dad have to say about how much they love All Wags:

My wife and I have been taking our pup, Koda, to Karen for over 5 years.  We followed them from their South Blvd location to the Griffith Road location and now to All Wags North in Harrisburg.  We have tried many different doggie daycares, but nothing compares to the genuine care and service provided by Karen and All Wags North crew.  We are truly grateful for the peace of mind they give us when we board Koda.  Our little girl can’t wait to get out of the car every morning when we pull up to drop her off!

Fridays during football season are football Fridays at All Wags North. Send your pup to daycare wearing their very best gear to represent their favorite football team! And, the staff will be representing their favorite teams too. We break out the toy footballs and get a pick-up game going amongst the pups too. Let's see some rivalries spark!
Today was our first football Friday and we had a blast! Check out our buddy Vinnie sporting his Carolina Panthers gear!

Customer Testimonial from Chele

Chele has been an All Wags customer for quite some time. She was our customer at the Charlotte All Wags and when Karen and Josh moved to Harrisburg, she decided to bring her dogs to us. We are so happy to have hers be the first official customer testimonial for All Wags North! Thanks for being such and awesome member of the All Wags family!
My three furry kids, Luca, Snickers and Vinnie, along with their two cousins, Coyote and Zane are the most important family members in my life! Like so many, I have an extremely demanding job that requires me to work 5-7 days a week, attend various work events, concerts, seminars and travel frequently. In the midst of my crazy work life I absolutely find time to give my dogs loads of love and quality time with me. The only rule in my house is that the dogs must not be left in crates, tied up outside or cooped up indoors all day while I am gone at work. I live in Waxhaw and work near Uptown Charlotte, therefore, there is not enough time for me to travel home during the day to ensure they have time to take a potty break and stretch their legs.
The first time I even considered getting a dog I researched and researched to find the most amazing doggie daycare place in town where I knew the people there would love my dogs just as much as I do and spend quality time with them making sure they were happy. I was so truly lucky to have found Karen McCombs and her incredible family and staff that work at All Wags North!  Every day, Monday-Friday, my "bus" leaves with a total of 5 dogs to head to All Wags North....yes, 5 dogs----my three dogs and my mom's two dogs. All of these dogs are beyond happy to be at All Wags North where they receive non-stop attention, love and care. I can go to work, an event, or even on a vacation and never, ever have to worry if they are safe or happy because I know without a doubt they are the happiest dogs on this planet. They get to run freely throughout the day, play with other dogs and the staff, take naps and wake up and play again with everyone until I pick them up. If only all of the dogs in the world and their owners were as blessed as we are to have found All Wags North. I definitely reccommend All Wags North to anyone and everyone who has a dog! I would bring all of these dogs to All Wags North no matter how far of a drive it would be....it is absolutely worth it!

Please help Faith!

You gotta have a little faith... and that is exactly what sweet Faith has, faith that she will be better and faith that she will find a loving forever home where no one can ever harm her again! This poor little puppy was rescued by the President of the Lancaster Humane Society and brought into Pressly Animal Hospital yesterday. She is severly emaciated, covered in open sores, has a horrible case of Demodex, has lost her left eye and had been left
to die.
She did well overnight and was able to get a good night's sleep. She is taking her medicine well and allowing Dr. Pressly's staff to care for her. Everyone has a lot of "faith" that she will make it! If you would like to help Faith, please go to the Humane Society of Lancaster's website and make a donation. If you are interested in adopting Faith, let us know. This girl deserves a great new, loving home!

All Wags North is Open!!

All Wags North has officially been open for 1 week! We opened our doors last Monday 7/30 and have so enjoyed meeting new friends and all of the old friends who have come to see us and play at All Wags North! We have had so many new friends come in for their free evaluation days and we hope to see you again soon. If your pup would like to come in for an evaluation, we just need them to be current on their shots, spayed/neutered if they are over 1 year old and ready to have some fun! We are so glad that so many of our new friends are having so much fun. We even had one of our new puppy friends's mom call and let us know that her pup was waiting by the door on Saturday to go to All Wags North and she had to break it to him that he couldn't go until Monday! We hope you will come and see us at All Wags North!

Harrisburg 4th of July Celebration

All Wags North had a great time being part of the Harrisburg 4th of July festivities yesterday! We loved getting to meet so many people in our new community! Our bus was in it's very first parade and we handed out candy from the bus. The kiddos loved seeing the doggie bus coming along during the parade and they loved even more when they got candy from the bus. Our booth at the festival was tons of fun and we loved being a part of things and getting to build excitement about our new adventure! Remember, All Wags North in Harrisburg opens on August 1st!

Thoughts and prayers for Kenan

Kenan used to come to All Wags along with his sister Scarlett until their family got transferred to Kansas. Well, once a member of the All Wags family, always a member of the All Wags family! Kenan's mama let us know that he had surgery today to remove a tumor and that it turns out that it is cancer. They will know very soon how serious it is and what needs to happen next, so for right now Kenan needs all of the prayers that he can get. Will you add him to your prayer list or send some positive thoughts his way? His mama is very pregnant with their family's first baby and we want all the best for this great family!

The long ride home...

Do your pups pass out in the care after a day of daycare at All Wags? Can they not even wait to get the snoozing started until they get home and get their snooze on in the car? Now, we know that most everyone has a smart phone of some sort with a camera... So, the next question is, have you ever taken a photo of your pup passed out in the car after playing all day? We want to see those photos and post them on our Facebook page. Check out Miss Rosie fast asleep on the way home. Email your sleeping-in-the-car photos to ktamerlano@gmail.com and we'll get them up on Facebook.

In Memory of Midnight

Midnight, who is Matt's dog who works at All Wags, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Sunday morning. She was eleven years and had been in poor health. She was such a great dog and will be missed. Think some positive thoughts about Midnight and if you see Matt around just know that he is missing his girl. And, give your pups some extra snuggles tonight. Their time with us is truly so short but they make it so wonderful while they are here!

March Issue of the All Wags Newsletter

We've made some changes to the All Wags newsletter and it has now been posted to the All Wags webpage for you to enjoy. Based on results from our survey on Survey Monkey, all of you are reading the newsletter online and your second favorite thing in the newsletter (#1 being the coupon) is the events. So, we have added links which left space for more events. Our survey is still open and we would love if you would give us your input!
This month's newsletter has two fabulous dogs of the month to read all about, Layla and Mr. Darcy. Of course, there is a yummy recipe and adoptable dogs, but we also have an update from Pressly Animal Hospital.
If you aren't receiving the All Wags newsletter via email and you would like to, please let Karen know by emailing her. Happy Spring!

Ellie and Lulu

This is Ellie and Lulu, and they are best friends! The cool part? They met at All Wags! These two puppy girls wouldn't event know each other if it weren't for All Wags. We all like to "self-proclaim" who our pups' best friends are and it's usually our best friends' dogs, but these two girls really show exactly what social animals dogs truly are. It's so important for dogs to get to be social with other dogs! Hooray for doggie daycare!

Help King find a Forever Home!

Meet our latest foster dog, King! One of our customers brought him in because his owner was going to put him to sleep just because they didn’t have time for him.  What is wrong with some people!? We are so glad he found his way to us so that we could help him find a loving home!

He is about 13 months old.  He recently got neutered and is current on all of his shots.  He gets along great with both big dogs and small dogs, so he would make a great furry sibling.  We haven’t yet had him around kids but I can’t imagine he would have a problem.   He is a Catahoula mix and probably weighs about 50 lbs and will only fill out as he gets older.  He is a real sweetheart! Come and meet him!

Hannah has found her forever home!

Great, fabulous, awesome news! Sweet Hannah, our little 3-legged puppy girl, has found her forever home! Hannah was brought to All Wags to be fostered and nursed back to health after her owner shot her back leg off. Yes, you read that right, the poor girl got her leg shot off! This puppy really deserved a happy ending and she has found it. Her new mama is the daughter of an All Wags customer and she will now be living in Columbia, South Carolina. She will get to come back and see us for boarding and for visits. Good luck in your new happy life baby girl!

Puppies in need of a home

These adorable pups were found in the parking lot of Gaston College in Gastonia in a cardboard box. Do any of you have room in your hearts and your home for one of these little guys? There are 3 males and 1 female and they are approximately 6-8 weeks old. They appear to be some sort of lab mix. If you are interested in them, please call Sandy at 704-913-1339.

10 Compelling Reasons to Adopt a Shelter Dog

Here are 10 compelling reasons to adopt a shelter dog. What are you waiting for?
1. As the environmentally conscious recycling movement has proven, it’s easy (and fun!) being green, and dog adoption is the noblest form of recycling. One person’s trash (boo!) is another’s treasured pet.
2. Every year, millions of healthy, sweet, soulful dogs are killed at animal shelters across this country just for lack of cage space; as with people, bad luck can cause good dogs to become homeless through no fault of their own. By adopting a shelter dog, you’re doing your part to help end the nationwide crisis of homelessness.
3. With so many charismatic celebrities walking around with adopted dogs by their side — Lenny Kravitz among them — it’s clear that adoption isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s the cool thing to do. To your adopted dog, you’re the resident rock star!
4. You know all those people who are so proud of their honor-student kids? Well, adopted dogs are super-smart, the Mensas of muttdom. So skip the bumper sticker — flaunt stray pride with a cool collar or T-shirt. Even your coffee can proclaim pride for pound pups!
5. Don’t you want somebody to love? Somebody who will actually love you back? For anyone who’s ever suffered the pangs of unrequited affection — and who hasn’t? — rest assured that an adopted dog will return those tender feelings tenfold. No more lonely nights!
6. If you’ve had it up to here with criticism from your nearest and dearest, get used to unconditional K9 adoration. Years of psychotherapy can’t hold a candle to an adopted dog’s uncomplaining, adoring presence. “Dinner’s late? Again? I adore you!”
7. Got performance anxiety about trying out a new hobby or activity? With an adopted dog as your nonjudgmental audience or workout partner, there’s nothing to fear: From exercise routines to gourmet cooking to knitting, your efforts will get an A+ even if they deserve a D!
8. Adopting a dog proves you’re a person of great inner depth who values substance (a mystery dog of unknown parentage) over style (a predictable pedigreed purebred).
9. But hey, if you’re a style hound, there’s no more stylin’ statement than a shelter dog — s/he coordinates beautifully with any outfit or style of decor!
10. Are you a political animal? Then reaffirm your faith in the democratic process with an adopted dog. After all, shelter mutts are the people’s dog: E Pluribus Unum, one dog out of many. Uncle Sam wants YOU to adopt today!

Help Support the Long Race for Tate!

This is Tate and he is in for a long race. He is Mandy & Ella's mama's friend's son and he needs our help. In August he was diagnosed with Severe Congenital Neutropenia, which means he can't fight bacteria on his own. There is no cure for his illness. Though he is responding well to the medicine, it is not ideal as it was never intended for long-term use. We want there to be additional options for Tate. Most importantly, we all want Tate to be cured.

Please help Tate and 2,000 other children and adults with Neutropenia by sponsoring Mandy & Ella's mama as part of "Team Tate" in “The Long Race 4 Tate,” a fundraiser for the Ella Jewell Foundation. EJF is a nonprofit dedicated to raising money for Neutropenia research at the University of Washington.

The Long Race 4 Tate is not one event. It’s not a pledge per mile. Instead, making a donation of any size at any time is a way to cheer on Tate as he endures this challenge with strength and determination. His eyes and ours are always looking towards the finish line: a cure.

Mandy and Ella's mama, Kelly, is  dedicating her race to Tate: Charlotte Racefest Half Marathon, April 14, 2012 and Mandy and Ella are training alongside her!

Visit www.longrace4tate.com to learn more, sponsor Kelly and follow Tate’s progress.

Coach is a big brother!

Hooray for another baby in the All Wags family! Coach became a big brother on 1/2/2012. Chloe Catherine Newsome arrived at midnight and her family is so glad that she came. She weighed 5 lbs., 12 oz. and was 19 inches long. Look at Coach already being the protective big brother watching over his baby sister and giving her a kiss on her sweet little head. Welcome to the world, Chloe!

Happy Birthday Karen!

Today is a fabulous day, do you know why? Today is my mama Karen's birthday! Did you wish her a happy birthday today? She's a very special lady who takes care of all of us pups and treats each and every pup like her own and loves us all like her own. And... I should know because I am her own! She's also very caring and loving to all of the All Wags employees and customers and is one of the kindest people there is! She deserves all great things that come her way for being so amazing! Happy, happy birthday!!!
