A very special poem about dog's written by Bill's nephew, Ben

Ben turns 15 years old this weekend.  He recently moved from Virginia and now lives with his aunt and uncle ("Uncle Bob" aka Bill) in Charlotte.  His a Freshman at Myers Park High School.  He loves animals including his two cats and two dogs in Virginia and, of course, Bourbon (his tiny cat) and Baxter (his huge yellow lab) here in Charlotte. He is the foremost, world's expert on Johnny Cash, and sounds just like him on the guitar. In fact, he taught himself to play and is a very gifted musician with a remarkable "ear." Aside from his love of music and his extra sharp hearing, he likes being outdoors and loves being at All Wags (even when he is helping out with the hard work). He has had a pretty tough year, but it is getting better quickly. Being at All Wags has really helped get him through it all. His dog, Baxter, and All Wags are the inspiration for this poem, which is now also helping him pass his English class, Hurray!

Mans Best Friend

Man’s best friend should never be alone

Or you could leave him with a bone

For he is one who never wants to be lone

He will always be my own

And in my mind I think about him all day

My mind is always heading the right way

The problem with him today

Is that he’s not feeling as gay

So how to cheer my friend who is yellow

I vow to send him to a place that is mellow

Where he can be as gay as a fellow

And maybe get some Jell-o!

Finally I reveal who is my friend

And you thought he might be pretend

But the truth will help you comprehend

He’s man’s best friend
